Happy New Years 2014

Hello Divas & Gents,

2013 was a great for me. I learned a lot, loss a few, gained more, healed old wounds, closed chapters of my past and success is a continued goal also made a ton of memories to share with friends & family.

2013 started as the beginning of my wedding planning. But during that time, I asked God to strengthen me in areas I needed before I became a wife. During this time, he sent me these ladies Shae, Tajana, Tiffany, Tip, Adina, P. Dotson, Knook, Kiki, Kiara, Chanel, Ebony, Tyra, Felicia & my mother in law nickname (Sophia).

Each Lady was apart of something they will never know. I learned and will continue to learn from them as they do from me. We are all a phone call away and the one thing I love to do is pray and thank god for something they have given me that when others didn't they did. A friendship that will last forever. Some of these ladies I have known for years others I met through Tajana Sutton herself.

One thing Tajana always says and I'm a firm believer on it now. Your circle is small but those that are in your circle are in it for a reason. You don't need a big circle of friends. That small circle is all you need.

As sisters you will argue, agree to disagree and sometimes get mad at each other. But no matter what we can always pick up the phone and say Hi like it never happened.

Thank You Ladies for making my 2013 a year of strength and long friendships.

I can't forget about my new Husband :)!! For over 3 years, my husband has been my rock, my cheerleader, my partner in crime and my soul mate. No one, and I mean no one can deal with me like he can. December 2012 he asked me to be his wife and 2013 I took his name. I'm truly in love with a wonderful man and no man compares to him. And I prayed for him and God answered my prayers.

I have no regrets in 2013, 2014 is full of goals to accomplish and more things to come. Maybe a little one to add to the family tree.

Thanks for following my journey in 2013. Look for more in 2014.

Let me know what are your 2014 Success Goals!!

Stay Beautiful!!!

Hello Divas & Gents,

Tajana Sutton is back with her most awaited book of the year. Kai is back with his own story to tell along with our favorite characters (Deja, Xavier, Jay & Jade) of course special appearances by Daddy X and a few more of our favorites.

Here is a brief description about the book which is available now on Amazon.

Kai has had his share of issues with women and family, but when he meets Tamia Barnes he finds all of what he had been looking for. When a blast from both of their past resurfaces, their lives are sent into chaos. Kai and Tamia will have to fight for the love that they are both looking for, but even love won't be enough to fight off the demons and temptations they they will be face with. They will soon learn that the saying is indeed true, money is the root of ALL evil. Some are just a little more evil than others.

You can keep in touch with Tajana on her Facebook fan page and Twitter. Check out my other posts on her other books and authors under her publication company Ruby Love Publications.

Branding Myself

Hello Divas & Gents,

2014 is almost here in 3 or 4 weeks to be exact. And 2013 has been great. I got married in October to a strong, man that I know God made for me. I am finally registered to attend school in the Spring to further my education. I never thought I would be making YouTube videos, or create a blog but I have found something I love again.

My top 5 things I love to do:
1. Reading Books
2. Playing in Makeup
3. Making & Watching YouTube videos
4. Baking
5. Making Memories

My Grandmother always told me when I was little even in my 20's that making memories is the best thing in the world. Even if you just decorate your house its making memories for you. I loved that and its been a tradition with myself and now my husband we make memories together and on our own.

After my wedding, I had a list of things I wanted to accomplish before 2014 and I know you are thinking really goals at the end of the year, well yes, you can set long goals, short term goals, even daily goals to accomplish and my goal by December 31, 2013 is brand my YouTube channel (BeautywithMika) and getting a logo for my blog. I wanted something original and that represents Tamika!!!

If you notice my logo finally is on my blog and it will be on business cards coming soon. I love it. It took a few phone calls and some thinking, long discussions with my husband and finally making a decision.

Branding and Marketing yourself is a great way to purse your business. If its something you can see yourself doing for more than 5 years. It's time to be creative and market yourself. Blogging allows me to express myself and be who I am. I have learned to ignore all the negative things and remain positive. I'm not in competition with anyone but myself.
When you look at my logo know my blog is a site you can relate to, laugh and read and ask who is Tamika. I am strong, beautiful, creative, hardworking, loyal, dedicated, trustworthy, thoughtful, caring, friendly, a sister, a daughter in law, an auntie, a wife, protector, cousin, niece and prayer warrior. I am a strong Black Woman!!!
Let me know what does Branding mean to you, who are you? What are your goals in 2014?
Stay Beautiful!!

MAC Disney Maleficent Collection for Summer 2014

Hi Divas & Gents,

MAC and Disney have come together again for the well anticipated Disney Movie Maleficent Starring Angelina Jolie Summer 2014.

Being bad never looked so good.

MAC Cosmetics has announced that they will be teaming up with Disney’s “Mistress of All Evil,” Maleficent for a line this spring. The limited edition line will include 11 pieces and will be face, eye, lip and nail products.

The iconic label has dedicated an entire color collection to the evil queen of "Maleficent." Judging by Jolie's creepy beauty look on the film's poster, MAC must have been impressed. The popular starlet appears as a truly sinister witch, with perfectly arched eyebrows, piercing bright green eyes and blood-red lips.

If you can remember we already saw a Mac and Disney collaboration which dealt with most famous Disney villains. It was called Venomous Villains. Mac Venomous Villains collection launched in fall 2010 and it featured Maleficent, of course. That collection sold out immediately and the most loved items were from Maleficent line, indeed, suche as She Who Dares and Revenge is Sweet. That collection had for Maleficent mineral eyeshadows duos, bold and dark lipsticks and lipglasses, amazingly beautiful nail polishes and a purplish beauty powder. All came in dark colours with strong purple tones, perfect for a cool, mysterious and arcane beauty.
What can we expect from this collection maybe dark, bold and purple colours as well in Mac Maleficent collection?
It’s a summer collection since these kind of colours are more suitable for fall/winter but of course this collection comes along with the Disney movie.

The company has yet to debut the collection's photos, but that didn't stop us from making predictions on what the products might look like.

We can already guess that doing a second "Maleficent" range must mean MAC's first one was super-successful. This time around, we're expecting a collection focused on dark, dramatic and eye-catching colors that mix glam with goth. It wouldn't be surprising if the label also included a bold, vibrant red lipstick or nail shade, too.
The assortment will have its global debut next summer, according to the brand's Facebook page. We hear the range will coincide with the film, arriving in theaters on May 30, 2014.
What do you think about this collection? Did you purchase the first collection or will it be a miss?
Stay Beautiful!!

NARS One Night Stand Blush Palette for Holiday 2013

Hello Divas & Gents,

The NARS x Guy Bourdin Collection for Holiday 2013 includes the NARS One Night Stand Blush Palette $65, a gorgeous palette with a bronzer, a highlighter and an array of blushes.

This limited-edition palette is available now at Sephora (exclusively online).

For any blush lover, this palette is an absolute must-have. It contains exclusive and iconic shades alike, and they are quite decent-sized pans as well (they are each about the size of a single NARS eyeshadow). The elongated compact features the Guy Bourdin design on top of the compact and has a large, full-size mirror inside. It’s quite big, so while it’s not something you would keep in your purse, it would make an amazing travel buddy on long-haul trips where you’ll want a few options.

The palette includes:

Devotee Highlighting Blush: Alabaster glow

Mistinguette Blush: Bright pink

Orgasm Blush: Peachy pink with golden shimmer

Laguna Bronzer: Brown powder with golden shimmer

Deep Throat Blush: Sheer peach

Goulue Blush: Medium pink

This palette is an amazing gift- whether you’ve got a NARS lover on your list or someone who is just starting out with building their makeup collection, this palette is versatile and amazing quality across the board.

Having iconic shades like Laguna, Orgasm and Deep Throat is bittersweet though- it’s great for those who have longed to try them out, but the palette might not be worth the splurge if you already own some or all of them.  Having said that, the entire palette really works beautifully together, and you won’t be disappointed in it either way.

Devotee is an amazing highlighter! It’s quite frosty though, so a little goes a long way (and the slight pink sheen pairs beautifully with all of the blushes). Laguna has been a cult classic bronzer for a long time, so it’s no surprise that they wanted to include it in the palette. It offers a soft, natural-looking glow to the complexion without being orange- it’s one of the few non-matte bronzers that I actually don’t mind contouring with either.

All of the blushes are stunning and quite pigmented as well. I think the range of shades is quite nice, although I would have liked to see a little less shimmer overall. Mistinguette is the only matte product in the whole palette, however the shimmer is quite soft and subtle, so it’s not too bad. Orgasm is a one of the most popular blushes in the world for a good reason- it’s flattering and gives the most gorgeous, youthful glow to the complexion. If you find it a little bit too shimmery, check out Deep Throat for a bit more of a subtle finish. Goulou is the most bold shade in the palette, and I think it’s going to be an awesome one for fall- the reddish pink shade looks amazing when used with a light hand!
I’m personally in love with this palette because I didn’t have any of the shades the quality is amazing and I love having options. It’s a great value too, especially since I have yet to actually finish an entire blush.
Let me know what you think, and if you have seen this palette or desire to purchase it.
Stay Beautiful!!

Until They Loved Me by Author Coco Mixon & Taj B (Book Review)

Hello Divas & Gents,

Since my wedding is over, I have missed reading and tons of books have been released, I would download them but never have the opportunity to read them until now. Well, of course I had to support Coco Mixon after her Chocolate Brown series. And this time she is back with a collaboration with Author Taj B. Which I will be getting more of Taj B books!!!

Until they love me in my words is about a young girl Joslyn who was raised in group homes, foster care and of course gets shelter with her last foster family Ms. Sue and her son. Ms. Sue is the worst of what you will call a foster mother, Joslyn was wrong to deal with Ms. Sue and as she couldn't take it anyone Joslyn gets the best dream of her life, a young lady comes to her rescue Vee and Daddy. Who runs an "Entertainment" business. I don't want to tell you a lot about this book but I gave this book 5 stars. This book has spins and turns and you will never guess how the book turns out. It makes you realize how to treat others and what young girls and learn from or deal with in foster care.

Here is the Book Description from Amazon:

Growing up in multiple foster homes, Joslyn longed for a family. Living with Ms. Sue was supposed to change her life for the better. Fighting off her foster brother was never in her plans. After having enough, Joslyn is ready to move on. Will leaving Ms. Sue's home help Joslyn find the love she deserves? Join Joslyn as she searches for a place to call home. Will you love her?

This book only took me 2 days to finish, mind you I work full-time, and of course busy. I will say anyone can finish this book in less than 3 hours. I love how the authors really worked together to create a great book and there writing style together is good. Both authors have a idea of what there readers want and what works for them while staying true to there brand.

I recommend if you haven't already to go on Amazon and purchase this book.

Let me know what book did you last read? Any recommendations?

Stay Beautiful,

Miss Mika

Urban Decay Eye Portion Primer-Review

Hello Divas & Gents,
I wanted to give you a review on a product I love, love, love and don't leave home without it. About 3 years ago, I was wearing makeup but no one told me about primers. I had a friend who would get annoyed that my eye shadow would crease. Me not knowing I thought that was normal. Until she convinced me to go to Sephora and get this eye primer. At first I didn't want to spend $20, but after going in Sephora. I didn't think it wasn't too much.
This undercover wonder works invisibly to keep color in place. Apply just a touch before your shadow for crease-free, all-day (and all-night) staying power. Space-age polymer technology fills in any imperfections on the surface of the skin, prepping lids for indestructible eye shadow. No wonder it’s the most legendary eye shadow primer in the industry (and one of our all-time best-sellers).

I know there are a lot of other great eye primers out there, but this one has just been my go-to since the beginning (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it- right?)… I recommend it to all my friends, and since they starting selling it in the squeeze-tube now, it’s much more easy to use!

There’s a reason this primer has won countless awards and been raved about by top beauty editors everywhere- it truly works. It can turn a $2 eye shadow into one that looks like a $20 eye shadow. It keeps eyeshadows (even creamy ones like NYX Jumbo Pencils) totally crease-free, vibrant, budge-proof and just overall better.  It’s seriously one of the best investments you can ever make for your makeup!
This is a go-too primer for eye shadow. I have used this eye shadow on high-end and drugstore brand makeup. I love it.

Let me know what is your favorite eye primer and when did you start using eye primer?

Stay Beautiful!!

Miss Mika
